La Terrazza dell’Arena
Where art meets hospitality
A place suspended between stage and sky, in the heart of Bologna.
This is how La Terrazza dell’Arena came to life, a project conceived by Gaetano Lanza inside the historic Teatro Arena del Sole, one of the city’s most iconic and symbolic cultural venues.
A cultural rooftop in the heart of Bologna
On the third floor of the building, along the bustling Via Indipendenza, an unexpected and hybrid space took shape, a meeting point between food, wine, performance, and conviviality, designed to turn each evening into a one-of-a-kind experience.
The menu featured fresh, creative flavours: both hot and cold dishes with a strong focus on international cuisine and global spices.
Wine also took centre stage, with a carefully curated selection of Italian labels — especially sparkling wines from Franciacorta. Cocktails, inspired by Caribbean traditions, featured crushed lime and seasonal fresh fruit: ideal for light, summery, culture-filled nights.
Between flavour, bubbles, and open-air cinema
What truly set La Terrazza dell’Arena apart was its artistic soul: original shows, performances, installations, and above all, cult film screenings that transformed the rooftop into one of the city’s most atmospheric open-air cinemas.
La Terrazza dell’Arena was never just a venue. It was a fully-fledged cultural project, one that reimagined the very idea of entertainment and hospitality in one of Bologna’s most beloved places.
